ECPAT-USA Panel Uplifts Voices Of Sex Trafficking Survivors
There is no doubt that the past few months have seen an increase in both awareness and misinformation about sex trafficking. Conspiracy theories about exploitation have seized social media and have distorted the facts about sexual exploitation in the U.S., frustrating the work of anti-trafficking organizations and silencing the voices of survivors.
Our Survivors Get Real About Sex Trafficking panel hosted in October confronted these fictions with a heavy dose of reality. Featuring members of our Survivors' Council, brave individuals who have survived childhood sex trafficking and exploitation and serve as advisors to ECPAT-USA, and moderated by Miguel Petrosky, a Christian writer and journalist at Sojourners Magazine, this virtual discussion was a crucial conversation at a time when separating the facts about exploitation from the myths is more important than ever.
