ECPAT-USA Joins BEST To Raise Awareness of Online Exploitation

Kyra Wooden, our Youth Outreach Manager, joined Mar Brettman, CEO and Founder of Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST), for a conversation about the increased risks of online exploitation as youth are spending more time than ever on the internet. Especially when so many kids are turning to social media as a way to stay connected with their peers, it’s important for parents to check in with their children about their mental health and their online habits.

“Even if you have a really social child, they can feel so [much that] life isn’t normal and life isn’t normal for anybody right now,” Kyra explained. “So making sure they’re using that they’re using social media in a healthy way and trying to push as much as we can the idea that we need to make sure that our children’s mental health is still at the forefront of our minds is a really good barrier to being vulnerable to trafficking in and of itself.”
