Kabir Nabi

Kabir Nabi's life story is a powerful narrative of resilience and profound transformation. Surviving the horrors of "bacha bazi" (sex trafficking) in Afghanistan from ages four to nine and enduring the ravages of war at nine, he experienced unimaginable trauma. At fourteen, he embarked on a perilous journey, fleeing his homeland on foot with his mother and two sisters, seeking refuge in Pakistan. He immigrated to the United States at sixteen, mastering English and forging a new life. Over a 25-year career in the technology industry, he built a stable foundation and became a devoted father. In 2021, he was ordained as a Zen disciple in the lineage of Suzuki Roshi, deepening his commitment to inner peace and compassionate action. Today, Kabir channels his lived experiences into service, volunteering twice monthly at Alameda County's Santa Rita Jail, supporting those re-entering society. Furthermore, since 2023, he has served as a council member for PACT, further solidifying his dedication to community support and positive change.
