James Heyworth

James Heyworth is a partner in the New York office of Sidley Austin LLP, a global law firm. Jim practices in Sidley’s Securities and Shareholder Litigation group and has extensive experience defending companies and directors and officers in securities class actions, shareholder derivative cases and litigation regarding mergers and acquisitions. He frequently represents public and private companies, investment banks, private equity and venture capital firms, boards of directors and individuals in a variety of actions in state and federal courts and in various arbitral forums. Jim also has experience representing clients in SEC, DOJ and FINRA investigations. Jim received a B.A. from Cornell University and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where he was an associate editor of the Fordham Urban Law Journal. Jim lives in Connecticut with his wife and three daughters.
