Celebrating International Migrants Day

On this International Migrants Day, we honor the strength, resilience, and contributions of migrants in our communities. This year, we had the privilege of collaborating with the Carroll Gardens Association (CGA) to empower migrant domestic workers through a 5-week CSAM prevention workshop series.

At their recent graduation event, 54 participants were invited to celebrate their accomplishment with family and friends at a beautiful potluck celebration featuring dishes from participants' home countries, a traditional Mexican dance performance, and reflections on the power of community.

“It has been a truly rewarding experience to collaborate with CGA members throughout the 5-week series. I deeply appreciate the hard work and commitment they put into developing an engaging and informative workshop series. The sense of community and familial bond they share during PACT’s workshops and graduation ceremony is inspiring. I look forward to continuing my work with CGA, helping their members gain a deeper understanding of the impact of child trafficking in vulnerable communities, so they can become strong advocates for those in need.” -PACT Senior Education Associate, Luis Guaman

The unwavering dedication and hard work of the CGA staff have been the backbone of this workshop series and graduation ceremony. We’re proud to work alongside CGA to uplift and empower migrant domestic workers, and we look forward to sustaining our partnership and collaboration, by providing workshops to their current and future members.

A participant of the program shared the following words about their workshop experience:

“When I first signed up for this course, I felt a mix of curiosity and concern. As someone who cares deeply for children, I knew I had to learn more about the dark realities of child trafficking. I wanted to be better equipped to protect the children in my life and community. Throughout our training, we learned not just about the statistics and realities of trafficking, but also about the power of prevention. We discussed practical strategies for recognizing signs of potential trafficking and the importance of building trusting relationships with children so that they feel safe talking to us.”

To all of the graduates of this program we thank you for your enthusiastic participation! This type of engagement and involvement makes our workshops as strong and vibrant as the communities they serve.
