ECPAT-USA Hosts Virtual Discussion On How To Counter Violence Against Children

For 30 years, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child has been the core of international law for establishing the civil, political, economic, social, health, and cultural rights of children around the world. The Convention has 196 parties, every eligible member state except the United States of America.

Child engagement through free expression and participation in decision-making that shapes their well being has emerged as a dynamic aspect of advocacy to achieve children’s rights.

Violence against children is one of the most egregious and widespread abuses of the rights of children. ECPAT-USA gathered together experts in the field: Ms. Mama Fatima Singhateh, UN Special Rapporteur on Sale and Sexual Exploitation of Children; Meg Gardinier, Secretary General, ChildFund Alliance; Lori L. Cohen
Executive Director, ECPAT-USA; and Faith Robles, Advocate and Survivor of Sex Trafficking, Member of ECPAT-USA’s Survivors’ Council; as well as student leaders to tackle this important topic.
